Supply Chain Controller

Full Time, Permanent Position
37.5 hrs p/w (May need to be flexible to suit business needs.)

Immediate Start​
Salary range £19,000 to £21,000

Main Purpose of the Job

Supporting Supply Chain processes by working alongside Planning, Purchasing & Finance colleagues to ensure efficient procurement of raw materials, packaging and 3rd party bought in products. 

To deputise for the Planning Manager when absent through holidays and/or illness.

Key Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Ensure Purchase Orders are raised correctly first time, using the approved supplier database and pricing agreements in place.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Planning Manager to monitor stock levels of raw materials and packing materials to ensure correct amounts are purchased and available 24 hours prior to being required on the production plan.
  • Ensure all suppliers who fail to deliver materials or 3rd party products on specified delivery dates, are chased until resolved.
  • Track and monitor Supplier performance and hold them to account.
  • Manage and maintain the company’s raw materials records to ensure integrity and accuracy.
  • Implement improvement processes to reduce inventory, minimise cost and maximise working capital.
  • Work closely with the Purchase Ledger Administrator to resolve any anomalies via investigations.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with cross-functional teams, including those from NPD, Technical, Operations, Warehouse, Sales and Production.
  • To learn basic duties of the roles within the Supply Chain environment, in line with the company’s processes and procedures.
  • Provide support/cover during holidays or unplanned absence, to any office based role as and when deemed necessary.
  • To produce reports and statistics to measure KPIs – Key Performance Indicators, to demonstrate the company is achieving key business objectives.
  • Arrange supplier meetings onsite as and when required.
  • Take on ad-hoc projects from the Director of Operations to run alongside daily work being carried out.
  • Report all staff absences for North Road site by following the correct practice.
  • Interview staff returning to work from absence and ensuring the ‘Return To Work’ document has been completed correctly and fully.
  • Create a good impression of The Bay Tree at all times and adhere to company rules and standards, including when working or travelling off-site.

The post holder is required to be keen to learn and acquire new skills and respond positively to feedback.  

The post holder is required to be honest, trustworthy and able to work unsupervised on occasions as well as being conscientious, reliable, with good attendance and timekeeping standards.

It is essential that the post holder:

  • Experience of procurement and/or production planning in a food manufacturing industry
  • A great standard of numeracy, literacy and negotiating skills
  • Previous experience of ERP/MRP systems, preferably on Sage 200
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel
  • Financial awareness and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills and customer focus
  • Proven ability to successfully work alone and within a team 
  • The ability to be self motivated, reliable and enthusiastic
  • A keen eye on attention to detail
  • Good time-management

Warehouse Operative

Full Time, Permanent Position
37.5 hrs p/w

Immediate Start​
£8.80 per hour, rising to £8.90 per hour after 3 months’ probation

Work with warehouse colleagues to ensure sufficient, safe warehouse and maintain accurate handling of stock to deliver a high quality service to all of our customers.

Deputise and cover the duties for the Goods In Controller and the Despatch Controller when absent through holidays and/or through illness.

Key Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Pick customers’ orders, generated on a daily basis in line with company practices and procedures.
  • Ensure all orders are picked accurately to maintain stock accuracy.
  • To manage all order requirements, in a timely manner.
  • Assist with cycle counting requirements.
  • Undertake forklift duties as required, ensuring that the daily safety checks are conducted in line with company guidelines.
  • Pick and pack all orders as per special instructions and ready for transportation.
  • Ensure all of our orders are inputted on our delivery service provider’s portals correctly.
  • Create, maintain and update components on Sage, for missing overall weights on orders.
  • Assist in other site operations, as and when required.
  • Ensure accurate stock checks / counts are carried out, when investigating blue and pink lines or any other stock count request.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments.
  • Ensure adherence to site Health & Safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain and promote good housekeeping standards that comply with Company and legislative standards at all times.
  • Provide a professional, courteous and efficient service to all colleagues and visitors.
  • Create a good impression of The Bay Tree at all times and adhere to company rules and standards, including when working or travelling off site.
  • Cover absence for the Goods In Controller and the Despatch Controller.
  • Support and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues by providing training and guidance as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required within the scope of the role / business, which is deemed as a reasonable request.
     

It is essential that the post holder:

  • Is qualified and competent to operate a Counter-balance forklift truck.
  • Possesses good numeracy and written and oral communication (in the   English language) skills.
  • Understands and is committed to safe working practices within a warehouse environment.
  • Good communication skills and customer focussed.
  • Has proven ability to work successfully alone and within a team.
  • Is flexible, adaptable and calm when working under pressure.

It is desirable that the post holder:

  • Is qualified and competent to operate a Flexi forklift truck.
  • Holds a current, valid UK driving licence.
  • Has Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety issues with regards to the food industry.

Technical & Food Safety Co-Ordinator 

Full Time, Permanent Position (37.5 hrs p/w)
Immediate Start​

The award winning Bay Tree Food Co. Limited wishes to recruit an innovative, methodical individual to this vacancy in our technical department. 
Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be ensuring the company complies with its Food Safety, HACCP & Quality Systems so that all products and process exceed company standards, and legal and regulatory compliance. 
 
Main Responsibilities will include:
  • Technical support to the company’s Production & NPD departments during production trials and subsequent process validations
  • Completion of Internal, GMP & Hygiene audits to an agreed schedule
  • Oversee the company’s positive release procedure, ensuring all manufactured produce meet the required quality & legislative standards
  • Raise non-conformances, undertake investigation of root causes and follow up on agreed actions
  • Manage investigations into any customer complaint and product issues
  • Maintenance of various components of the companies QMS to ensure adherence to the company’s accreditation, including SOP’s and the company’s document control system
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language with an accurate eye for detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills.
An internal audit and HACCP Level 3 qualification as well as experience of BRC accreditation would be desirable but not essential.
 
This position would suit either someone currently in a similar role to broaden their experience or someone currently in a Quality Role wishing to take the next step in their career. This position will be paying £18,000 - £24,000 depending on experience.

Production Operatives

Full Time, Permanent Positions available.
Shift pattern Mon-Thurs (Total 37.5 hrs p/w).
Immediate Starts Available

We are looking to recruit hardworking and quality focused individuals to join and strengthen our highly successful production team.

Based within our Production and Packing Departments, you will be developed to become a multi-skilled operator, working as part of our team manufacturing Award Winning Preserves and Condiments.

Ideally, candidates should have previous experience working within a food production environment or similar.

Basic Food Hygiene certificate or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be provided.
